Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

Ummmm, I don't have any idea what these parts are. It doesn't appear the booster pump is connected to the filter, sooo I'm back to being confused [emoji12]. Here are the pictures I have a

Ok so the PSI is 10-11 when just the filter is on and about 18 psi when the booster pump is working. Does that sound about right?

That doesn't make sense at all. The pressure shouldn't change with the booster pump running. If anything, with a super accurate gauge, you might notice a slight decrease in pressure since the booster pump is pulling water from the filter outlet.

Well the PSI is definitely affected by the booster pump. We did a backwash, turned the filter and booster pump back on. I let it run for awhile and went back out to check the gauge. It was at about 17 PSI. The booster pump goes off at 5:30. I went back outside and checked the gauge; it was at 10 PSI.

The good new is the SLAM is going well. FC was 23 this morning and I added bleach to bring it up. At 1:20 it was 25 and at 5:30 it was 24.5, so I've maintained shock FC for most of the day. It's back to my day job tomorrow - ha! I will check in the morning before I leave.

We normally have the pool set on a schedule. I know it needs to run 24/7 during the sLAM. Since the booster pump and filter are unrelated, is it safe to run the cleaner while the pool is in recirculate mode or should I only have the cleaner on when I'm home and can monitor?

Im not very familiar with a polaris cleaner to be honest. WIth all the algae I suspect the bag might fill and clog up, and i dont know
what happens to a polaris if it gets filled.

Dose it up again in the morning and then again as soon as you can. Then repeat!

We opted to leave the cleaner off just in case. It didn't fill up at all yesterday and we ran it about 4 hours, but we didn't want to take any chances.

This morning, not down; it was 28. Hmm could the SWG be kicking in now?

Yes,
thats what's happening. This afternoon when you get home, turn off teh SWG and leave it off for the rest of the slam. With the SWG going, we cannot tell how much FC is being lost.

Here is this afternoon activity.
1. turn off the SWG
2. Test for FC
3. Test for CC
4. Do a OCLT (overnight chlorine loss test).
30 mins after dark, test for FC.
before the sun comes up, test for FC

There are 3 criteria for being finished with the slam.
1. CC is <.5 (not more than 1 drop for the solution to go clear)
2. the OCLT is 1ppm or less
3. the water is clear

Thanks! Hopefully, turning off the SWG is self-explanatory [emoji23]. I'm learning all kinds of new things. The water is not clear. It's 75% better. The steps and hot tub area look great, but the deeper end is still greenish tint, but you can see the bottom

The Polaris cleaners use water in four different ways to clean the pool. There's the water motor, jets, tail, and backup valve. The back filling up only makes it have more drag and move slower. Even the jets should simply blow out the bottom instead of up into the bag. I still don't get it. Got a picture of the gauge? How old is it? Does it go to zero when off? You may have answered those questions already.

There is a picture of the gauge posted in an earlier post. The pool was built in 2011. It does go to zero when off. The booster pump was actually recently replaced. I don't know how the PSI worked before.

If anything, I would expect the filter pressure to drop slightly when the booster is turned on because it is bypassing flow around part of the plumbing and it is adding head gain instead of head loss. But because the opposite is happening in this case, I suspect something else is going on.

In one of the pictures there is an actuated valve directly in front of the filter and it looks like the valve is closed. Does this valve change positions when the booster is turned on or off? Sometime PBs will bypass some of the returns so they don't affect the cleaner when it is on. If this path is turned off when the booster is turned on, then the pressure could rise.

Two things

1. It doesn't look like any of the valves look any different when the booster pump is on or off.

2. I turned off the intellichlor at the control box , or at least thought I did, but all the lights are still on. Is there another way to turn it off?

Feeling a little silly that we have all of this pool equipment and I don't know how to use it or what it's for [emoji15]

I just did this on the control panel, but the lights won't change on the actual cell container. Is that normal?

IDK, I do not have a Pentair SWG ... some lights will likely stay on. Isn't there a "generating" light or something like that?
