I have a ph of 7.6 and want to lower it, the ta is 100 . Can i lower the ph without lowering the ta? Also, what is the min. For calcium hardness in a ablve ground pool, i have been told it doesn't matter with a vinyl liner. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

In general, we do not stress over TA unless it creates an unstable pH. We also would not adjust a pH of 7.6 as that is fine.

But to answer your question, no, if you add acid to lower your pH your TA will go down. Might not be something you can measure as your test is not that accurate.

Calcium is of no consequence to a vinyl liner pool unless it gets too high and your CSI goes above 0.6.

I suggest you leave the pH alone until it goes above 7.8.

Take care.
