Noticed that after adding R-0871 and getting water to clear that it turns back to pink & then purple if left on workbench. The turning back to pink only takes a few minutes.

Yes.
And if testing for CC's you don't want to let that sample sit before adding the
r-0003. It should all be done in succession.
