Normal chlorine loss?

Hi All,

I opened the pool a few weeks ago, completed the SLAM and mustard algae SLAM last week. I did the mustard algae to be safe bc we had suspected MA at the end of last season. All levels have been normal but I feel like I’m losing excessive chlorine ~ 3ppm/day. Is this average? We’ve had a heat wave in PA, direct sun on the pool 10a-3p. Here are the numbers:

FC 3 - I added liquid chlorine to get it to 6
CC 0
TA 90
PH 7.8
CYA 50

Every morning for a week, the FC is 3, I raise to 6. This is the first season we’ve had a CYA above 30 so maybe I just feel like I’m using more chlorine.

Normal FC loss during swim season is 2-4 ppm each day. You are average!

I would increase FC to 7 or 8 when dosing. 4 is minimum, and yours dropping to 3 daily. Flirting with another bloom. Stay closer to lower target, not minimum.
