Noob in Prosper TX. Not a first time pool owner though. Had one in our first house. First time builder now and stumbled in here because of problems with our build process. The pool won't stop weeping so they can't plaster.

Looks like ike a good bit of good info here, think I'll hang my hat for a bit and learn a thing or 2.

CJ,

When my pool was built, a couple of years ago, we had the same weeping problem. My house is about 3/4 of the way down a very small hill. So, because of the hill, I'm about 3 feet lower than my neighbor and he is lower than his neighbor etc...

It was finally fixed, but you are not going to like my answer...

When they initially dug my pool, water started seeping in.. Not a problem they said. They put in the plumbing and the steel and installed a temporary sump pump.. Not a problem they said.

Gunite crew came and went, but water was still weeping through at a dozen different places.. Not a problem, we got this they said. Stamped concrete decking was poured around the entire pool. Decking looked great but pool still leaked like a sieve.

Plasters said "We can't plaster until the weeping stops..." No problem the PB said, "We'll just spray on some "magic" leak stop solution". No help... we'll just spray it on two more times.. Still weeping like crazy..

We'll just drill a bunch of holes in the pool walls to relieve the pressure and then we can patch the holes and plaster. Really? Looks more like Niagara falls to me... :drown:

To make a long story short, the PB had to rip up about 60' of decking on the back side of the pool, dig a trench about 6' deep and 18" wide and install a sloping French drain on two sides of the pool. The French drain ends in a 10' deep pit. In the bottom of the pit is a sump pump that pumps the water around the pool and into a storm drain.

It was great fun... :brickwall:

Let's hope you don't have the same situation.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I hope not but we too are about 3 feet below the neighborhood behind us.
