Hey everyone let me start with some background information, I've been around pools my whole life helping my father, unfortunatly he recently passed and I am left with pool duties. We have a retangular inground vinyl salt water pool. Approx 21,000 gallons I think. My current setup is at least 15 years old. 1hp hayward single speed, with a Hayward Perflex EA75C and Heat pump. Last year I had constant problems with pressure or D.E leaks being passed through our the return lines (minimal). Anyway this year I opened the pool, water was dark, bottom of pool had algae, I soaked my fingers in Acid, I used descaler, I've hosed them clean, replaced some fingers, checked my plates, seals, etc. Everything you could think of I had done to the DE Nest. Start everything up this year, and of course ran great for about 2 hours. High pressure, cleaned her out again, again high pressure. Everything is amazingly old. I guess I want to know what my options are. I could of course get the same filter and not change too much. I could get a cartridge filter, sand filter, a different type of D.E filter. I am just not sure which route to go. Should I call a professional in? I don't know. Anyway my current setup has no multiport valve, or any way of bypassing the filter for a good vacuuming which I would like to add anyways and it looks like I maybe working with limited space as well. I do know how to plumb pvc etc. been around that stuff like this my whole life. I figured I'd ask you guys see what people think. Here are some pictures. Thanks again
