Hi all, I opened my pool a few weeks ago and just want to confirm my next steps. When I opened, Total Alkalinity and PH were low, so following a local pool stores advice (they test using Taylor kit), I added in soda ash to reached desired numbers, we overshot Total Alkalinity, so followed their advice in adding muriatic acid to lower this. I tested 2 days ago with these results, FC=0, CC=0, PH=7, TA=120, CH=180, CYA=0. I took my solar cover off and left pool pump running on high to aerate pool to decrease TA. I also added a gallon of shock to keep algae at bay. Following day, I saw exact same test results, so I decided to start the SLAMming process and added the amount of chlorine for that. Today after SLAM last night, my pool test levels are the exact same, no level seems to be moving. Do I continue trying to SLAM or should I proceed a different route? My pool is blue but cloudy and the pool store said I had no phosphates when they tested 2x earlier. Thanks for any advice.

You pH and TA are just fine. Go ahead and follow the slam process, you need to increase your CYA to 30 to perform the slam process.

I find printing the slam instructions out and keeping them with you helps...just follow the steps.
