Maybe a sock in the skimmer basket would help to catch some of the pine needs that otherwise could go through
Skimmer socks can be very helpful with catching debris (esp when vacuuming). I Sometimes change it twice a day when pollen is high etc.

you can rinse and reuse them
(I don’t personally) for a few cents each, they seem like a good investment to me

Vacuuming was an ordeal. Lots of debris, especially pie needles. It seems that the hoses (initially two hoses [one 25ft and other 30ft] connected by means of a couple) kept on getting clogged after a short time. The couple was a bottleneck and a weaker link; so, instead I used the brush to concentrate the debris in an area whereby the 30ft would have good reach – it made things a little easier, but still some clogs.

Once, the heavy lift was done by vacuuming it with the skimmer, I decided to deploy Tiger.

The TigerShark is kind of old, and not very smart. So, I had to move it around with a pole a couple of times. But, in the end, it was able to vacuum the small debris and fragments that were still present in the pool floor.

In the end, the water looks crystal clear. Don't know how long it is going to last though.

From which part of Indiana do you hail?
