Newbie needs help with spa water chemistry problems

When adjusting chems via Pool Math, it suggests amounts for solids like di-chlor and calcium chloride in terms of weight. Do people actually weigh this stuff or is it close enough to use fluid ounces of volume instead of ounces of weight (i.e. 1 fluid oz roughly equal to 1 ounce of weight)? Thanks!
 
FC and MA, would be max 5 minutes with pumps running. CYA and CH I'd say if you add the difference of you what you want to achieve of the test results you had then consider it done as long as your math gallon wise is on point.

Do simple math in your head with the 16 ounces a pound for the solids. Say. It says 8 ounces of CYA and ypu have a 2 lb bag. Add 1/4 of it by eyeballing. None of them need to be exactly exact because they are diluted by thousands of gallons. In my case, 34k. A little bit too much or not enough won't change much.

That goes for liquid adds too. Eyeballing is fine and you'll be close enough with 1/3 (?) gallon or whatevs is says to add.

I do as @Newdude says for the pool since it’s larger amounts.
For the hot tub I use google conversions to go from oz to tsp/tbsp & it works out fine with Volume by weight or fluid oz/dry or wet.
When I need to do boric acid or salt for the hot tub I do weigh it since being off a little in the hot tub has a big impact.

Thanks but this is for spa chems, so only around 420 gallons. Probably need a bit more precision than my crappy eyes can provide!

This is probably a dumb question, but I want to fully understand how this stuff works. When lowering pH via adding MA, should I run the jets like I do with other chem additions? Or does this create more aeration that messes up the pH decline I'm trying to achieve via the MA addition? Thanks!
