You can do the SLAM process at that high cya, but be vigilant at keeping your FC level at 35 ppm (per the chlorine/cya pool school article).

Well i am on day 4 Still losing to much FC overnight. Cc's are .5 but still losing 5-7ppm overnight. Starting to get irritated!

You now need POP..."pool owner patience". Some pools clear quickly and some can take a lot longer. Hopefully yours is not one of the longs ones (2+ weeks).

Have you cleaned out from behind your light? Seems we forget this during our slams.

Another owner has been dealing with green for 10 weeks and found her light niche full of algae.

Have not cleaned out from behind light. I hope I don't have to! Good news though my pool only dropped 4.5 ppm from 7:00 this morning to 5:00 this afternoon. If I had to guess, I think I will be passing the OCLT tonight. I will let you all know in the morning.

Why not just remove the 1 screw and look behind the light?

Is that all I have to do to check jblizzle? It seems when I start messing with things like that something always go wrong! I have never touched the pool light before.

Should just be one screw at the top and the entire fixture should come out with enough wire to sit on the deck ... in case you need to change a bulb.

Lights make for wonderful place for algae to grow. No one likes to take the light out and clean behind it. It's nice and safe...

I will have to check into removing the light and taking a look at that. I added a pic of how the pool is looking. It has not been this clean that I can ever remember!

Alright jblizzle & techguy I decided to take the plunge and tackle the light. Although most of it looked dead, it was still in there! I just vacummed it all out and reassemabled. We shall see if it makes a difference!

I love lurking on these SLAM threads and I have seen the light discussion a bunch of times now... I don't think anyone has removed theirs and *not* found all that gunk behind it! Then the next thing you see is... "I finally passed the OCLT!"

It's like magic!

I can tell you one thing, when I finally get a house with an inground pool (a dream of mine..) the first thing I'm going to do is take out all the lights and clean them! LOL!
