Hello all, I’m new here and have a question about selecting the correct size filter for my pool. I have an Intex 16’x48” pool (approximately 5,000 gallons). I was running an upgraded Intex 2,500 gph cartridge pump that just died (stock pump was I believe 1500 gph). I put the brand new stock pump on and it is way underpowered so I was looking at an Intex sand filter. The option are 12” (2,100 gph/1,600 gph turnover), 14” (2,800 gph/2,150 gph turnover), and 16” (3,000 gph/2,450 gph turnover). What would you recommend? The 14” and 16” are nearly identical in price so I was going to go 16”, but I see on both the 14” and 16”, they say minimum pool size 5,500 gallons and a max of like 17,000 and 19,000 gallons respectively. Is there any issue with running pump/filter combo that is “too large”? Should I go 16” as originally planned or go down to the 12”? I’m also not opposed to a non-Intex filter in the sub $200 range if there is something better. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
