New Vinyl Fill Questions

Replaced my liner on Thursday and now have my pool back full from the city water supply (15k gallons).

Want to try to get my water correct from the start.

Adding some CYA now, and have pH at 7.5. Chlorine is at 1 ppm

I was going to add some baking soda to help buffer pH, but I just ran a test (TF-100), and found:
Alkalinity = 160
Calcium Hardness = 150-200 (little hard to tell when sample really turns blue)

Seems the alkalinity is a little high. Should I scrap my plans to add Arm & Hammer? Should I try to bring it down? Should I leave everything alone?

Thanks for any advice. I always appreciate the help.

FYI chlorinating with liquid chlorine/bleach on a chemical pump.

With a TA of 160, no baking soda needed. Keep pH in the 7's. The TA should come down some over time.

Keep FC in the target range for your CYA - FC/CYA Levels
