Hello, I just came across this site via r/pools.

We are going into our 3rd year of owning a pool. It is an 18' x 33" oval Stealth Pool. I'm not all that knowledgeable on our pool and have always relied on the company that built our pool for water testing, chemicals, opening, and closing our pool, all at a fairly high cost.

Our pool utilizes the ClearBlue Ionizer system. My understanding is that it is supposed to put minerals in the water so we don't need to use as many chemicals.

I just opened our pool on my own for the first time, following their instructions and using all of the chemicals they recommended for opening. Those included:

Nature's Pure - Pure Energizer - 20 lb.
Nature's Pure - Pure Balance - 15 lb.
Poolife - Turbo Shock - 5 lb
Natures Pure - Weekly ReEnergizer - 5 lb.
Natures Pure - Killz-It - 32 oz

I'm ignorant enough to have no idea on whether or not I need top put all of that stuff in the pool or not, which is why I'm here.

Welcome to TFP.
In general we do not recommend using minerals. The minerals provide no sanitary advantage and can accumulate in your pool water and stain the pool surfaces.

The foundation of TFP is to test your own pool water - need to have a recommended test kit.
Test Kits Compared
Use either liquid chlorine or a saltwater chlorine generator (SWCG) which is the primary sanitizer for your pool.
