New to TFP

If the OLCT test comes back where I'm not losing anything, will I need to SLAM regardless since my FC is so low?
If you still see no algae, then no you won't. You will have dodged a bullet on that one if you pass. But go ahead and make sure you have a good FC level based on your current CYA according to the FC/CYA Levels. Give yor pool some extra love today with a good brushing and such. Do your Overnight Chlorine Loss Test this evening, and let us know how things turn out tomorrow. Good luck!

So I passed the OCLT test, repeated each night and morning 3x just to ensure I was getting true results. I didn’t have more than a 0.3-0.5ppm. CC has stayed consistent at 0.4ppm. Everything else with exception to CH at 160ppm was in range, added hardness tonight to increase it to 250.

So I need help on 3 issues:

1) With the pump running on high, should it be crystal clear to be able to see the pebbles on the bottom? I only see it a little cloudy near the first half of the pool off the spillway. Middle to deep end looks fine. Should I SLAM it?

2). I’ve been pouring liquid chlorine each morning to get it to the target of 6-8ppm based on my CYA of 50. I’m adding approximately 1 quart each morning according to the app. My pool is direct sunlight each day. Is it expected to lose 1-1.5ppm each day? I’m trying to determine if that is to be expected, so over time I know how much to add without testing.

3) When is the best time to add chemicals? Early morning or at night? Is there an amount of time to space out between different chemicals? And what order to fix assuming all 3 will need adjustment? A/P/C method: Alkalinty / pH / Chlorine?

If you passed the OCLT just maintain FC in target range based on FC/CYA Levels

Should not be any cloudiness. See how it goes the next few days.

Normal FC loss is 2-4 ppm per day in the summer. So a little less this time of year.

Add your chemicals when it is convenient to you. Most do in the evening so you have the elevated FC overnight.

Only two items you do not want to add at the same time is chlorine and acid. Space them out by 15 minutes or so.
