Hello Everyone, I am Ed,

I just moved to Long Island, New York, to a house with a pool. I didnt know it at the time and wish I would have done my research but doing a pool inspection is a must when buying. The pool was broken and I had to spend thousands to "fix" it and get new pump, filter, salt chlorinator, etc. I was able to paver the whole backyard finally after closing the pool for the winter and apparently fixing all leaks. Come spring I opened the pool and ran the equipment for the first time since installing it and after a few days i noticed the pool is losing water. about an inch per day. No idea where the problem is. Hopefully it is something simple like a hole in the liner. if i have bad luck it would be the main drain. since the water is still cold i have ordered a wet suit to dive in and hopefully i will locate a hole. Any advice for a pool rookie with a leaking pool? Also do you know anyone in the nassau county area preferably near hickville that is good at fixing leaks whether it is liner or underground pipes (without destroying the backyard). Here is a pic of the pool currently. Looks nice except for the cement stuck at the bottom that the jerks that did the pool edge left without telling anyone and is now hard.

Thank you guys I ended up calling a pro. In the future I might buy one of those leak track machines. They are awesome. I had to pay $1400 but after everything I spent to get this 1970s pool up and running the $1400 were worth it. The issue was leaking main drain line so no permanent fix there. He just capped the line and closed the handy valve near the pump for the main drain. I bought a dolphin premier so no worries with keeping the bottom clean. The other problem was the return line near the bulkhead fitting. Rather than break the bricks, empty the pool and pull out liner he just put some epoxy and said it should last 5-10 years until it’s time to change the liner then I should do a permanent repair on the line fitting. (We suspect the guy that installed the pavers tamped too hard on the gravel and broke the fitting). But finally the pool is open and I couldn’t be happier. I still have a lot Learn so I’ll be relying on you all. Thank you!
