We bought a new (to us) house in December, and it came with an above-ground pool. It has a variable speed pump, DE filter, and is chlorinated. We have no idea what we are doing, but we are trying our best to do things the right way thanks to websites like troublefreepools! We realized quickly that most professional pool companies won't help with above-ground pools, so we're going it alone!
So far going okay, we have an algae problem right now and super-high CYA (I posted about this in the forums) so are planning the dreaded Drain and Dilute. We are also on well water with a water conditioner and neutralizer. We ALSO have a baby! So most of our pool maintenance is done at night after he goes to bed or randomly during the day since we both work from home mostly. We are hoping to learn as much as possible this season and keep our pool in good shape for the future!
