I purchased a home with a pool spa combo. Trying to figure out the correct valve settings to heat the spa

#1 is there a bypass valve ?
#2 which valve(s) and In what positions to heat the spa
#3 can I do any damage by putting valves in wrong positions (I am afraid of changing anything for fear of breaking something)?

Jb,

You want to suck water out of the spa drain and send all the water back to the Spa..

Set the valve marked "Spa Main Drain" 180 degrees from where it is in your pic.
Leave the valve marked "Spa Return" where it is in your pic.

The above instruction will put you in the Spa mode.

Thanks,

Jim R.

jb,

The problem with your current valve set up is that you are not in the Pool mode or the Spa mode.

With your current set up, you are not using any of your pool returns..

In the Pool mode, most of the water should be going to the Pool Returns and just a little should be going to the Spa returns to cause the Spa to spillover into the pool.

The valve that is marked Spa Returns should be set so that the handle of the valve is pointed toward 8 O'clock position.

Thanks,

Jim R.
