New to a baqu conversion

Just checked pool's FC it was at 9.5, pool is still mostly shaded at it is 11am est. time.
According to the pool cal. I need to add 127 oz.

My question is with the liquid bleach I am pouring it very slowly in front of the pool jet is this okay? or do I need to walk it around the edge?

Yes.

When you get a moment, please add your pool and equipment specs in your sig.
Go to User Control Panel, upper left (under TFP Logo), select Profile, then Edit Sig.
This will be very helpful to responders :-D

You're doing fine....despite the "worries". LOL

As for your CYA - don't waste your re-agent. You never had it in your pool, it was a Baq pool.

Now, understand the CYA should not be added until the conversion is nearly complete - this will be done AFTER your FC is holding thru the night and AFTER you change out your filter media. NOT before...

Update

added 182 oz of liquid bleach at 7am b/c the FC had dropped over the night from 15 to 7. Re-checked at 11am FC dropped to 9.5 so topped up to 15 with 127oz. Just checked at 2:30 est, and FC was down to 11.5. It is very hot and sunny today, so I am going to top up again and then recheck in a couple hours.

How does this sound so far?

It sounds very good. You are now getting enough chlorine in there to do the job. It may take another day or so but, from experience, I can tell you if you keep that up you'll have a sparkling pool pretty soon.

To save a little chlorine, the more additions you can make when the sun is not directly on the pool is better. Perhaps you could test and dose around 7:30PM, test and dose around 10:30PM (or as late as you can stay up) and then (if you an early riser) test and dose as soon as you get up.
This minimizes FC loss from the sun. It's certainly not mandatory and you'll do just fine applying the FC as you are....it will simply save you a little bit of chlorine.

So here are some numbers...

At 5:30
FC 8.5 added 150 oz

At 7:30
FC 11 added 92 oz

At 10pm
FC17.5 didn't add any more

I guess it got a little over 15..need advice on this....Hope it doesn't hurt anything, I have been adding the proper amounts or so I thought...what should I be doing..?

I didn't add anymore tonight since it was high...color is improving nicely.

I will retest in the morning..and post results..

Just checked FC this morning it was 11, I was curious to see what the CC total was so I checked, it was 5. I think I am making progress.

Since my FC was 17.5 last night at 9:30ish, I am going to be a litter conservative on my dosage of bleach today.
What do you guys think?

Okay so I haven't added any chlorine since this morning. I just checked FC and it is at 12. It is overcast and rather cool today. My question is should I go ahead and keep topping up to 15 FC or just wait until this evening. It doesn't appear that I am losing all the much FC during the day.

Need advice on what would be best at this point in my conversion?

Okay so quick question...since our pool store is about 25 min away in another town, and I am making a trip to town tomorrow, I am going to go ahead and stop by there to pick up some items since I have a store credit and I figure my conversion should be complete soon. My question is I need to know what chemical if any or other items that I WILL and MUST need after my conversion is complete. Also can I pick up the sand from the store or can I get it cheaper at Lowes/HD?

Please let me know so I will know what I need.

Thanks

The sand needs to be specifically for swimming pool filters. I doubt you can get it at HD/Lowe's, etc. That'll probably have to be from the pool store. It's usually not terribly expensive but certainly higher than construction type sand.

FrustratedPoolMom,
when you say Liquid Chlorine I must get the pool stores or can I not continue using just bleach 6%? Also for the CYA what is recommended the liquid kinds or the kind that you put in a sock in the skimmer?

The CYA you put in a sock is a lot cheaper than the liquid but the liquid shows up faster, I've heard.

You can certainly continue to use 6% bleach if it's cheaper than the pool store 12.5%. If you want, you can buy a pool floaty there with your store credit after you get your sand!
