new tfp method, can I guess along till its time?

Cleaned and swam inside the pool today. Water was great didn't smell or taste like clorine do I got a little worried I didn't have enough in. After swimming and hanging out in the shade I could smell the clorine on my hands. I now believe that the oto sample is turning a 'vivid yellow' and a tc/fc level of 5-15. I only added 18 oz of 8.25% in the morning and tested just now at 8:30 pm with the same reading I have got except the first two I ever read(.5 and 2).

I'm still guessing along and still planning on 18oz a day/gallon a week.

You shouldn't smell any chlorine smell in the water. If you do it almost always means that the FC is too low, and you have excess CC. That is what you smell on your hands after you swim. The FC is oxidizing dead skin cells and sweat and making CC.

Tested everything last night except fc and cc, oto showed under .5 tc so I didn't bother. I have tested it before when it was in the 80s and I was holding 2-3 + fc in the evening. It's in the 100s now and sunlight must be burning more. Added 70 oz of 8.25 last night, added maybe 1-2 lbs of lo n slo(empty, ma next)

Fc 6.5
Cc 0.5
Ph 7.8 (before lo n slo)
Ch 200
Ta 360
Cya 30

I'm gonna treat the pool with ma to get the ta way down, always had rising pH and now I know why. CC's are probably from bugs on the surface, I don't have a skimmer yet. Water is extremely clear with the exception of debris on surface and on floor.

With a little luck it was easy to guess along, I would not recommend it to anybody

Just having the organic debris in the pool will often yield the CC of .5 in my experience. If you are trying to be as thrifty as possible on the FC consumption, train the whole family to carefully skimmer the surface anytime they see floating leaves before they sink. Vac often when leaves have sank. Let the only thing that eats your FC be the sun, the microscopic debris blown in, and your bodies :)

I'm glad it worked out for you, and happy you can now test properly. You may want to bring it up to FC 12 and do an OCLT.

Just remember to sneak up on ph with MA, and pour super slow, brushing after adds, especially the path that the return pushes the MA, or you can end up with a white skid mark on your liner. With TA that high, hopefully your PH recovers quickly so you can do the next rounds, and remember to turn off the pump before adjusting the return up at the surface to get waves and bubbles and speed it up.

It has been fun to watch the guessing but I'm glad it's over.
