New SWG?

I am new to all of this- so I never tested or paid attention to it at all except to replace the cell. . The pool is 10 years old and I am guessing it was never at an ideal FC level because algae was an every year occurrence. I’m so happy I found this forum- it is empowering feel like you can take control of the pool. I’m pretty sure the current cell is at the end of its life so that’s why I’m thinking of upgrading the whole thing.

The question was leading toward keeping existing equipment until a replacement was necessary. If the cell is close to the end of its life, sure, buy one that can effortlessly keep up with demand by itself. If your current one is working as designed, and you want to hold off on the purchase, you may supplement pool with a bit of liquid chlorine along with your SWG.
