I need some help on selecting a new skimmer weir gate. I had a leak in my pool, and the leak detection people determined that the throat of the skimmer was cracked. He repaired it with epoxy and now the old weir gate will not fit. The holes where it pivoted are filled with epoxy. The guy suggested a new basket with a weir builtin. My pool store had one, but the overall height is to big and won't seal around the skimmer. The old weir gate measures 8 1/4" wide. I looked online and there are weirs which press against the walls of the skimmer, but all are much wider. Any suggestions?

Can't you just drill out the weir holes? Without a properly functioning weir, your skimmer will not work like it should.

The leak detection people should have drilled the weir door holes out and replaced the weir. I would have them come back out and have your skimmer repaired properly. The holes should only be very shallow, just enough to hold the weir door.
