Totally happy with my new Maytronics Active40 vac but has anyone figured out how it determines that the filter is full? When I open it up to empty it there’s barely anything in it. Is it timing related? If so, how does it determine that it’s been cleaned out and remove the ‘full’ indicator?

Not just a one time thing. Happens regularly. I have no doubt it’s a ‘feature’ but just wondering what triggers it.

Mine does the same. Try opening it and cleaning out the motor impeller. It often gets hair wrapped around it and slows down, and that makes it think the basket is full.

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression. The vac is brand new. I have no issue with the feature. I just wondered if anyone had a clue as how it worked.

10. My Dolphin’s “Full Bag/Cartridge Indicator” light comes on when the bag/cartridge is not full:
• This usually occurs when the impeller cannot spin fast enough due to dirty or clogged filters. Inspect the impeller for debris and remove; clean the filters. Restart the cleaner; press and hold the reset button until the light goes off (approximately 5 – 20 seconds).
• If light still does not go off, take your Dolphin to your local dealer or call Maytronics Customer Service.
• After resetting the full filter indicator light, run the unit without filters, see if light comes back on. If so, it may be time to replace the filters.

Thanks for that. Seems from that that the indicator may be triggered by impeller speed. Good to know. As an aside the vac seems to work just as well with the ‘full’ indicator on.
