New Resurface - Uneven plaster and pits

Hello all,

Just had our pool surface refinished. Material below. At night, if we turn on the new LCD light, the pool surface looks really bad. Like pits or gashes across the middle section of the pool. They're noticeable when standing in the pool. It feels like 'foot prints' one the surface. Like standing on a sandy beach. Pictures below.

The manufacturer of the surface (CL) also sent a rep out who discussed the issue on-site with the installer. Both agreed 'no issue' and stated it could all be due to 'the weather'. Acid wash was performed to help with the staining.

Is this normal? Any info is greatly appreciated

Normal NO, common YES. It appears to be the application of the product and not the weather. I have seen this before but not in such a large area. Most likely they started application in the bowl and worked there way out to the shallow end. If it was weather then why not the entire pool looking the same? I looked at the CL web site gallery and no other pools displayed this. Almost appears to be an entire batch of product displaying this uneven finish.

Welcome to TFP.

Your plaster install was low end quality but with a hand applied product quality varies widely based on the crew you get.

Most plaster pools show imperfections at night with the pool lights.

How does the pool look during the day?

Thanks for the reply ajw22. During the day, the pool looks fine. However, the ruts/pits are obvious to those standing in the pool during the day. The gaps are large enough your feet/ankles turn on the downward slope of the pool. It feels like deep footprints when you step on them.

Thank you for the response. I'm at a loss for why the issue is centered on a specific area. I also doubt excuse of 'the weather'. I fear the company is trying to pass the blame. Luckily, I haven't yet paid for this part of the project.

Imperfections are common, but this looks sloppy in my opinion. It usually shows more when the pool light is on, but this looks like heavy traffic around the stairs with sponge shoes.
Thanks Poolbreh. The install team was 4 guys, all wearing large sponges on their shoes. The affected area is around the stairs and a 'path' down the middle of the pool. Almost like a walking path...
