New pump, need tips to remove the cover so I can clean the filter

This is my setup for my new Jacuzzi JVSI65S variable speed pump. I need to clean leaves out of the filter, but cannot get the cap off. I released pressure from the main DE filter and kept the valve open until no air was coming out,, but the cap is still locked tight. I don't see any screws.The vacuum valve is closed. Is there another valve I need to turn to release the pressure or do I need a special tool to get that thing off?

Firm but reasonable taps with a rubber mallet on the ears of the lid should release it. It may take several taps.

When you replace it, hand tight ONLY!.

Okay that sounds reasonable. I was afraid maybe something was still keeping pressure in there and if I tapped it the whole thing would blow in my face. Thank you!!

You also need some pool lube to use on the gasket.
