"New Post" Counter

Seems the "New" posts counter was removed after an update this morning.

How many users like the "New" posts counter?
It used to show new posts since last visit in red in this area on upper left of forum page.



I have come to rely on it to see if there are new posts since my last visit. It saves me needing to click on "Posts" icon to check for any new posts.

Can we p-l-e-a-s-e get it back?

This change was made yesterday during our update in an attempt to “clean” up the look some as some felt the numbers and such were a bit of a distraction. I also do see where some see the numbers as useful as it allows users to take a quick glance to see if there’s anything new or not. I personally don’t feel strongly one way or another about if they stay or go and would love some feedback if you found them useful or generally annoying.

The fact that the numbers maxed out at 10 made it useless to me. I ignored the line and stopped looking at it. I didn’t see the change since I do not look at that area. So I don’t care if you give people the counters.

But if you have the counters and they are two digits then let them go to 99.

Having a clean UI should be secondary to having a useful UI.

I can toss a suggestion to the developers to maybe increase the number…….but for now the sole option we have to customize this without major work is simply turning it on or off. It cannot be altered to 99 even though that would help somewhat.

I have same thoughts as Allen. I never used it and I did not notice it was missing.

I tend to ignore dumb UI stuff and go about my business. There is so much of it around.

Dumb UI stuff comes from designers who don’t actually use what they do. They stick stuff on the UI because they can and they think someone may find it useful.

If you are referring to TFP specifically, please reply with further UI suggestions or send us a PM. We appreciate any feedback in this dept, as everyone uses the forum a little differently.
