New pool owner, new forum member. I have a unique situation in that I am gone for 5 weeks and home for 5 weeks so my wife will be maintaining the pool in my absence! Wehave two young daughters so safety is a huge concern us.

Welcome to TFP! Feel free to post a new thread in the appropriate sub-forum and we'll try to address all of your pool questions. Make sure to update your signature (much like mine below) with all of your pool details to include how your test the water so we can answer your questions later. Have a great day. :swim:

Howdy from Denison TX! Thanks for the great greeting, I am a little intimidated by all the pool lingo. Our pool is just finishing up, plaster on the 11th. I haven’t calculated the volume of the pool, hoping my contractor will provide an accurate number. I will have LOTS of questions, I am sure. Hopefully you will not regret extending the invitation, lol!

While you are waiting for fill day, make sure to read our ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry section, and read/save those Vital Links below in my signature. You'll also want to have in-hand a proper test kit. Either a TF-100 (link below) or Taylor K-2006C. Don't fall for the free store testing or test strip routine. They will fail you. Read as much as you can and it will pay-off in the long run. We can help you with all of your pool questions. Oh, and once done, make note of anything the builder dumps in your water on day 1. Usually some acid, conditioner, and chlorine. Sometimes a sequestrant for metals. But take note of everything.

for some reason, I don’t see your signature. I looked at Taylors website for the test kit. The “C” is for chlorine? I am using a mobil device, so I may not be getting all the forum features, but I also don’t see how to modify my signature. I will be sure to record what the contractor adds on fill day, thanks.
