By moving the center pillars of the arbor 4 inches onto the spa coping, they now line up perfectly with the pillars on the retaining walls. This has resolved the alignment issue detailed earlier in the thread. I am a bit OCD about symmetry and alignment.

The contractors are all more than annoyed with me at this point as I am constantly on the job site with my measuring tape and level checking their work. If its off, I ask them to redo it. :whip:
I can't tell you how many mistakes I've caught. Most of these are attributable to the kitchen/arbor contractor - not the pool builder :hammer:

A friend told me one time that the difference between being happy with the end result and not being happy with the end result was being on the job site every day asking questions and letting the workers know that you were there looking over their shoulders and ensuring that things were done right.

2 crews out today. Electricians are doing the electric for the outdoor kitchen. While they are here I am having them do new outlets for some open relays on the easy touch.

I also had them install an outlet on the eave of the house right next to the top of the arbor. This is so I can run string party lights through the arbor. This outlet is wired into the easy touch so it can be iphone controlled.

So the time has come to choose stamped concrete pattern and color. For some reason, this seems to be the most pressing decision for myself and the wife.

I was originally planning on a grey colored concrete in a square ashlar pattern. I wanted to go grey to break up all the beige of the natural stone. However, the concrete guys are all pushing me towards bone/beige/brown colors.

My pool builder thinks going with Ashlar squares will make the look too busy. He is suggesting more of a rock 'skin' effect in brown tones.

I am worried that going with brown tones may make it look like a sea of beige.

Would really appreciate anyone's opinion on pattern and color for this build!
