Hello! I am new to “big pools”. We ordered a 33ft pool that will be here this week! I am nervous but super excited to get everything up and running! I ordered pool rx+, a solar ionizer, and a robot vacuum so I hope that helps the pool stay clear. If anyone has any advice or recommendations please let me know!!

Hi there Ash  Welcome to TFP
You're getting an Above Ground Pool, right?

We've got some basics for you- Pool Care Basics

We are a chlorine based pool group. Please, if you can, return both the PoolRx (copper! eeegads!) and the solar ionizer. Both products are useless for you.

Did you consider a salt water chlorine generator (SWG)?? Which about 99% of owners would never do without. Alternatively you can use liquid chlorine (Walmart, Ocean State, Menards...etc sells in 10-12% strength.
What you need MOST of all is a GOOD reliable test kit. We do NOT trust pool store testing- you can take 3 water samples to 3 unrelated pool stores and get 3 varied results + bad advice so you''ll buy more products. See approved list and online sources under the basics listing.

All you need to start your pool up is: Liquid chlorine, Stabilizers (found at Walmart, Amazon, Lowes..) and possible Muriatic Acid.
And you need to get set up on PoolMath, the app, which helps with testing documentation and sharing, and helps you with quantity of chemical to add.

Please holler back with questions- we're happy to help.

Welcome to TFP! Try not to get too caught-up in all the "pool gadgets" or chemicals that new pool salesman like to sell. They have no clue and they just want a bigger sell. Simple stuff like Maddie noted above and you're all set. One day maybe upgrade to a salt water generator to make chlorine life MUCH easier. I promise you though, it all starts with proper testing. I love my TF-100, but the TF Pro-Series are a great value as well. Lastly, there's the Taylor K2006C. Make sure you have one of those on day one.

Enjoy the forum. :swim:
