Hello All! I’m a first time pool owner. I’m also a do-it-yourself type of person and like to know how things I own work. I do not plan to have a pool maintenance person/company and I do not like to rely strictly on others guidance (like pool stores) without completely understanding the issue myself. I’ve read through all of my equipment manuals and also on pool maintenance from a number of sources. TFP kept popping up as a resource that many used and I found there to be a ton of great information and very knowledgeable people on here, so I decided I needed to participate to learn as much as I can, stay up to date with any changes, and have this as my go-to resource for all my pool issues and questions.

Thanks and I am excited to learn and grow from all of you!

AFJ,

Welcome to TFP.. The perfect place for a DIY person to learn all about saltwater pool maintenance.. :shark:

You are half way there by not using a pool maintenance company. No one will take care of your pool better than you.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks Jim! We haven’t even been able to use it yet (supposedly this Friday) due to a number of issues and final pool “cleaning”, but I’ve already learned how drastically different the approaches to water chemistry can be just from a few people that work as “experts” at the same company. I definitely don’t want to leave my pool, and the water my kids are going to live in, in the hands of people I don’t know and not knowing what they’re doing to my water exactly.
