Hello! I was gifted a 10’x30” easy set pool. It will hold about 1000gal. We will need to do some ground work, etc. so it is NOT set up. I am taking this week (at least) to figure out some things. I have read articles etc here but I’m having information overload. I’m a learn by doing kinda person.
That being said, I would like to spend this week doing maintenance on my kiddie pool to figure this all out. I bought a maintenance kit with a net, hose vacuum (which is a no go for 5” of water
) and other things. It has test strips. I know I should get a fancy kit but that is NOT in the budget this week, this month, maybe not even this summer. Straight out of the tap here’s what I have: FC 0.5, pH 7.2, alkalinity 40. Water temp is 84F. There’s 5” of water in this 6’ pool, so it’s 89 gallons.
On the app I can see what I need to add to adjust parameters. (I’ll be using household bleach, borax and baking soda, dissolving the borax and baking soda in solo cups, separately, before adding) WHEN should I be adjusting, since these things affect each other? Add bleach, then wait how long before adding the next item? Do I retest in between? Should I be doing this at night? Any special safety concerns for me or the kid using the pool?
I’m sorry to post such simplistic questions but I really have to just do it to figure it out reading is not working for me. TIA!
