My husband opened my pump basket one day because the water was so clear it didn't look like there was any in it. Earl, you have done a great job showing that the TFP method works if you follow all of the steps correctly!
No, it just means that over time the continued filtration and maintaining a proper chlorine level will have the water become even more clear -- running the pump longer to filter longer will clear a pool of particulate matter faster. If you do not have good bottom circulation you can brush more frequently or consider pointing one or more returns somewhat downward to improve bottom circulation (in your case with Intex, you may have only one return and you may not be able to change its direction).
The purpose of a SLAM level of chlorine is to kill algae, especially algae that is clumped as in an algae bloom. Once the algae is all dead, it is the filter that physically removes dead algae. The chlorine level remains elevated until all SLAM criteria are met primarily because most people stop too early and allow algae to grow again or they haven't yet gotten rid of algae from all its hiding places (e.g. under removable ladders, behind light niches, etc.). Also, some SLAMs are done to clear water from chemicals that chlorine can actually oxidize to get rid of but that is less common.
Ok another update on my readings SLAM completed
