New pool owner, 22’x52” above ground

Hey guys, new pool owner here. Finally, after about 36 hours of filling my new pool is full. I’ve always been told that owning a pool is a time consuming chore and that it take a lot of work. I’ve spent the last couple days doing research and trying to learn as much as I can so that I can maintain my pool and keep it crystal clear all season. I’m going chlorine, and live in a very dry, dusty part of California. When it first filled up it had a nasty green tint that I’ve been told it just due to the low quality water here in the valley. But I just completed my first shock last night, along with a clarifier and it’s already starting to clear up. This mornings readings were fc 5 and ph 7.6. Only have a basic test kit for now. I’ve been told I need to get a better test kit to test for CYA. Will post updated reading after work this afternoon.

What volume is the pool? If you could add that and other specifics to your signature it would be very helpful.
First, do not use clarifier again. It is glue. Depending on your filter type it can create issues.

Definitely invest in a quality full test kit, it puts you in control and knowledge is power in pool ownership!

Pool volume is approx 12,500 gal. It is above ground, and am running the pump/cartridge filter provided in box. Just got off work, and tested water. Chlorine was at 2 and Ph level at 7.3

It's great that you found TFP now at the beginning of your pool ownership. Keeping the pool the way you want will mean educating yourself using the knowledge you can glean from the methods and experience from the experts here.
