New Pool - Orlando Florida

Here's the 1st pic that actually show a section in place.

The screen material is the fine 17x20 SuperScreen. I hope it doesn't cut off too much of the view. It will probably cut 50% of the UV and CL loss but be harder to keep the pool warm.

Reason why we didn't opt for a screen. I didn't want to cut out the view and I hear you get more swim time without a solar heater if you don't have a screen.

Of course, there are the mosquitos and bugs next to a body of water. We are going to invest in a misting system. Hopefully it can work!

The screen should be finished tomorrow (Wednesday) and Ill have more pictures. They have most of it done and I was concerned about the view but I'm already getting used to the look with the screen. It actually guts the glare.

I just can't put up with the bugs and animals too. I've had everything from Turtles to Snakes in the standing water in the shell. No alligator yet but one came very close crossing the yard the other day.

I can't do efficient Solar as exposure is North. Would have problems with HOA approval on the front of the house although I don't think they can stop Solar installs anymore. I'll probably get a Heat Pump and Solar Cover later.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful compliments on my pool design and view.

The PB is probably going to take credit for it being "his" design as he posts pictures on his Website and Facebook.

He can't take credit for view as he had no part in building that. :-|

Screen was completed late today by the subcontractor. Quality was ok but have a list of small things to come back and fix.
I'll take some pictures tomorrow.

Also, got an unexpected pleasant surprise. Three employees from the PB, including the one I was told had quit, showed up to cleanup and get ready for the plastering. They pumped the green standing water out of the pool, cleaned and acid washed.
These guys said they will be back soon to do the start-up.

Bad news I found out later from the PB is the Plasterer is overloaded and won't be here until July 5th weather permitting.

So we won't be swimming on the 4th of July but now have a nice clean bug-free screened area to look at the pool and the view.

Bummer on July 5th but I do believe everything for a reason. Can't wait to see a pic with the completed screen. Bug free is nice!!

That is gorgeous!! I don't remember seeing an arched screen like that - I love it! Your pool and pavers are beautiful. What a view!

Sorry you just missed the 4th of July for swimming, but I agree - things work out for the best.

And it used to look like this 4 months ago!!!

Lots of frustration but hopefully well worth it.

Hey, I actually got a 20 minute visit from my PB himself to check the screen and pool cleanup.

Finally told me the pool plasterers name: White Sands in the Orlando, FL area. I searched and found them to be A+ and a WetEdge authorized installer for the Pebble finishes only. Anyone have their pool done by them?

Their website does not say anything about WetEdge other than a link, but the WetEdge dealer search has them listed.

Originally the HOA (Homeowner's Assoc.) required me to have as back of house faces the golf course a very expensive pool screen enclosure that had fake foam columns & headers. It would have had a Mansard roof with a flat center area and was very expensive and impossible to repair screens without tearing apart the columns.

Then a builder put up a house on the golf course without these columns. HOA would not approve because I was living here before that build.

So contacted the Developer of the community and told him this was unfair. He ordered the HOA to approve.

Then I was getting PB quotes for the typical Mansard style without the columns and found out the Dome style would be a few thousand less expensive and actually look better.

Looks beautiful, Irwin!! I love the way the screen turned out. You really have the best set up with a great view and no bugs or creepy critters. I'm really looking forward to seeing you get the plaster installed and filled with water! Are you counting down??
