New Pool - Looks like a swamp

We had our pool installed last week. The water was delivered the next day which was specifically pool water, however, the installers used our hose to put a bit of water in the pool before they left. Our hose water is high in manganese.

After the pool water was delivered, we added the provided liquid shock, clarifier and algicide that came with the pool based upon the instructions given by the installer.
We started the pump and filter before doing this.

We woke up to our pool looking like what’s shown in this picture above. Yikes!

We took a water sample to a pool store. They sampled the water and then recommended adding a metal remover. Done. No changes overnight again.

Yesterday we went back with another water sample. This time they recommended adding more shock.

This morning the pool still looks like this.

This pool is 4 days old. What do we do to clear this up!?!? Thanks in advance!IMG_6695.jpeg

Welcome to TFP! :wave: Not seeing the pic yet. :scratch: Maybe it's still posting. But to your notes above:
1 - Are you on a well?
2 - There was no need to use a clarifier or algaecide. We understand you're just following the installer instructions, but those chemicals are a waste of time on a new fill and could potentially cause more harm than good.
3 - Store testing (and advice) is horrible. You need your own proper test kit, either a TF-Series kit (link in my signature) or Taylor K-2006C.

There's the pic. :goodjob: Sure sounds (looks) like iron, especially if you're on a well. Do you have some polyfill? If not, grab some as soon as you can and place it in the skimmer. Also consider running the pool water through a separate bucket with polyfill. You had the right idea having water delivered, but those installers messed you up with the hose fill.

We filled our pool from our well. We knew the risks and knew we would have a battle when the water was 12" deep as it looked green from the metals. Our fears were confirmed when we added chlorine and the water turned brown almost immediately. Enter 5 gallon polyfil filter. It worked...

1 - yes we are on a well.
2 - noted thank you
3 - got it - we did use our own test kit as well and levels showed normal

Make sure you have one of the two TFP recommended kits as all the others don’t measure chlorine levels as accurately.

This was helpful thank you.

So I built a filter using a sump pump attached to a garden hose. The garden hose was connected to a cooler that had a drain with a threaded end in which I was able to attach a double female coupling to make the hose pump into the cooler. Cooler is filled with polyfill. Drilled holes in the cover of the cooler and duct taped it down.

Also put poly fill in the pool filter skimmer basket and turned it on high.

We will see how this goes .

Interested to see how the polyfill does. I know it hasn’t been long, but are you seeing it turn rusty?

What type of test kid do you have?
