So, my PB, who started construction of my pool on 10/6/23, is just now completing it. Of course we are in the middle of winter. They put liner in and filled this week. They dumped lots of salt in it, and turned pump on. They said to let run for 24 hours to stabilize chlorine. This water is extremely cold, and temps here got down to 20 degrees last night. It is my understanding that the SWG isnt going to do anything when its this cold. Should they have dumped all this salt in, or waited until warmer water/weather? I assume i will now need to turn around and figure out how to close the pool. Any help on what i need to do? Liquid chlorine? How much? I would appreciate any help or advice i can get at this time. Not much help from the PB.

What is the water temp? Salt in a liner pool right after fill is fine but yeah the swg is not going to produce in cold weather. Is the pump on? Did you get a heater? I do agree the pool should now be winterized.

Depending on where you are in KY, there may not be much point in winterizing this late. I’ll probably be opening mine in a couple weeks. You just need to chlorinate with liquid chlorine until the SWG can make chlorine. Probably will be when the water gets up to 55-60F. And you’ll need to get the CYA up to 30ppm if you do keep it open.
