New Pool Build - Katy, TX

I couldn't tell in the time lapse video, but how/what did they use to cut the design of the stones in your concrete decking?

Impressive, cannot wait to see it finished!

The didn't cut. With grinders they cleaned the separation in the concrete slabs. Before pouring a layer of their acrylic cement mixture they layed thin tape to make the design. After it dried they pulled it out.

Almost exactly 1 month since last post. I guess I am one of those types who is a bit dry on nitty gritty details. So here is what has been happing. We went through five doormat size samples before the decking company was able to produce a color mix that we liked. I think they were a bit frustrated with us, but its our pool and we want to be satisfied. They went to work laying down the color and sealant. We came from work and saw beautiful areas of the deck with areas around that had only base color. The best way I can describe it is something close to leopard print but not as much contrast. So as I write this the decking company is still due to come out and add some more color.
Landscapper added some grass and will work on getting proper drains, mulch and rocks around palms that are close to the house. We are still deciding on landscapping for the back of the pool. A smaller palm tree that was behind the waterfall was moved to the end of the yard. The builder, boulder formations, and landscaper all agreed that it was too close to the waterfall and to nearby trees.
Rinse shower was put in.
I sealled the new entry fence and gate with natural oil based seal. So much nicer than have it turn gray like the rest of our old fence.
The big even is we had plaster done. Beside decking this was the most difficult choice for us. After much deliberation we selected (all from Wet Edge) base plaster from Pearl Matrix New Zealand Blue the finish from Prism Matrix Blue Lagoon, but removing all black stones and replacing them with light blue glass beads from Indigo. So, looking at the result even though the water color has not cleared up yet, we are very satisfied. Yes...the water now is filled and our builder started up the pumps and put in first set of chemical to get things going. We got the brush, and for next 2 weeks we have a mandatory daily exercise of brushing the pool. Not to get too much ahead of myself next I will post some pictures of the progress.

We had a visitor. Had to get a bucket to help him out. I did not touch him, knowing that they can carry leprosy. [emoji40]

Right now, after first set of chemicals and first brushing. The water is still a bit green, but getting there...

Updates coming soon. I wanted to give sometime after we filled and swam few times before posting updates. Have been brushing for last two weeks and all equipment including heater was hooked up.

Our builder, O'Leary Pools and Design conducted pool school for my wife and I on Saturday for over 4 hours. Made us feel a bit more comfortable operating the equipment and maintaining our pool. There is still a lot to learn.
