Re: New Pool Build in Tampa, Fl

Thanks!

Update:

The screen is completely done. Deck is about 95% complete. The PB has to clean up the planters (cut them a little better) and secure some loose pavers (will happen after pool is complete). The inside of the pool has been cleaned and prepped for plaster. Electrical is installed. Pool equipment is on the property, ready to be installed next week. Getting close.

On a side note:
When we signed our contract we upgraded to a remote for the pool automation. It was the Jandy PDA RS-6, I believe. When I checked outside, there was a transceiver on the wall that stated it was an iAqualink. Maybe I can hook it up to the new mobile solution (ipad, web, etc.).

Some pics of the deck after it was hosed down.

Re: New Pool Build in Tampa, Fl

Beautiful...Don't ya wish travertine looked like that all the time?? Are you planning to use a travertine sealer when all is done to bring out th colors? (Gotta use sealer made for travertine from what I have read...)

Re: New Pool Build in Tampa, Fl

Thanks. We do.

I have asked for quotes from 3 different companies to seal the travetine and waterline tile. We want to do it for the wet look but also to help with weeds and stains.

First Company - Water Based, Spray On for .80 cents a square foot. I really do not trust there workmanship though. The sample they did for us was very faded after a couple of days in the sun... even though it was 'wet look'.

Second Company - Water Based, Spray On for about $1.00 a square foot. This company seemed a lot more trustworthy. They outlined a whole process of pre clean, re-sand, 2 applications. The stuff was made in Florida and included 'shark bite' to help with slipping.

Third Company - Oil Based, Spray On. No quote yet or samples. This is the company that laid our travertine.

Re: New Pool Build in Tampa, Fl

Just do the research and make sure it is the right stuff for travertine.. Have heard horror stories... Should be something you can do yourself too? Of course, with sanding, I guess not. I hadn't heard about sanding, etc..
Good luck with it!m I am almost done selecting PB...can't wait to get out of this phase...

Can you point me to any Travertine specific information for sealing? By sanding, I meant just putting sand down and sweeping it into the paver joints.

Thanks,
D

Re: New Pool Build in Tampa, Fl

As a newbie, I don't have anything specific, just read some stories of people using the wrong stuff and getting poor finish. I decided to go with Stonelock Pavers to go with the rock work we are planning for the Spa. Any TFP Travertine Experts out there with info on sealing?

Build Update:

Not much has happened the past week or so. The equipment has been placed and the child fence has been put up. I redid the irrigation for the backyard including water to the planters.

Cell Pics, so not that great.
