New Pool Build - Conroe, TX - LOTS of pics! Come say hi Y'all.

This is the day that you decide.
Same decision every athlete has to make every morning.
"Am I in this thick or thin? good and bad? hard days and easy days?"
If you miss this day, next time you have to make the decision it will be easier to say "Not today."

C'mon Wendy, give me a pH test!
When you have that, well a few drops more and you'll have a FC level.
A little more and there is CC.
And at the end of it you win, cause winners never quit.

So what's it gonna be?

I actually did test :) I was just being overly dramatic. They came and fixed my AC YAY!

Just for Oz:
PH 7.4
FAS DPD 7
CC .5

:)

I added bleach to raise the CL to 9 - (trying to figure out my gallons) added 24 oz and it raised it to 10.5

What was wrong with the AC? Did your Freon get low or was it a bad capacitor?

I can't remember what he said - it was something on the unit outside (not in the attic). And it would "try" to come on and you could hear it almost bog down. He asked us if we have had any electrical issues - where we lost power or anything (we haven't). It took him like 15 minutes and he was done. We have a Home Warranty - so they send someone and we just pay a fee, so I didn't pay attention to what the actual problem was. Hopefully it is something that is covered!

Hubby just said that he thought the compressor was out - but he changed the capacitor and it fixed it :)

Based on your description it sounds like a capacitor. I actually keep a couple extra on hand because to me that is one of the most frequent failures and I hate being without AC. I have had AC's go out 3 times and they all have been capacitor failures.

since y'all are talking about capacitors, for those of you who dont have Variable Speed pumps,

All the rest of the pums have run capacitors on them. Its under the big hump cover on top of the motor.
If you find your pump isnt running, but only humms, its 90% chance its just the capacitor that needs replaced. Very easy DIY fix.

With our Home Warranty we pay a $75 service charge fee no matter what is wrong. BUT some things aren't covered - so you have to be careful - such as freon - we didn't think that was the issue or we would have skipped the Warranty Co.

The Dr. told me it was viral but gave me a steroid shot to help. Which really did. Now I am taking Advil cold and sinus to help with symptoms. The hard part was cancelling the weekends trip with my girl friends. He said I would be contagious through today. Tomorrow I should be better - but they left at 5AM this morning - so I couldn't go. :( Oh well.

For anyone following my numbers saga - I am estimating my pool at 7000 today when adding CL. I am getting closer . . .
PH 7.4
FAS DPD 5.5 (I added water to my pool late yesterday)
CC .5

Added 36 ounces of Bleach - retested FC 10

I also wanted your opinions on my CYA. For what seems like forever I have tested it at 70. But everyone seemed to think that was too high for as young as my pool is. Not sure if these pictures will even be able to be read - but here is what I am looking at. It isn't super sunny out - but I still read it as 70. What do you think???

Back must be to the sun.
By the shadows on your hand you are facing the light.
Hold just by the top and allow light to enter through side, last pic for CYA 50 seems shaded by your hand.

Yeah - I think I was focusing more on trying to get my camera to focus. There really isn't any sun out - it is overcast. Will the solution still be good in like an hour? I can try again?? I hate to waste the solution for a re-do - I have done so many CYA tests I only have 1/4 bottle left.

Do you think I can retest using the same solution? Like if I reshake it? - I can see the sun in areas - I just need to wait till the clouds open up here.

OK - Found a SUPER BRIGHT and sunny spot. I put my back to the sun - if the tube is in my shadow - you can't see anything in the pictures - so I moved the tube to my side a little - so the sun is coming from behind me but my body isn't shading it at all. If that makes sense. With the brightness - when taking the pics - I couldn't see ANY difference through the camera, I couldn't even tell if it was focusing - but once I looked at the pics it showed up a little more - but it was much clearer in person. So here they are in these conditions.

OMG, Wendy! Thank you so much for posting all these pictures! TFP needs to use yours as samples on the Pool School page re: CYA. This really helps me - a ton! I think I've been close, but now I will double check!!!

Suz.
