Hi gang! I just received the Pentair Intellflo3 VSF 011077 that I ordered (Jandy pump is finally giving up the ghost). I just unboxed it and was looking it over, and I'm completely stumped by the label on the motor housing.

The label on the motor says 1.5THP and the rest of the label matches Pentair's electrical specs for the 1.5HP variant of these pumps. This is odd because the 011077 model is supposed to be a 3.0HP pump. The label on the box as well as on the side of the pump housing both confirm this is a 011077 pump, and the overall measurements match Pentair's diagrams for the 3.0HP variants.

I'll call Pentair in the morning, but hoping maybe someone on here has seen this before and knows a rational explanation (and hoping I didn't get some weird gray market / frankenstein pump...

Thanks!

Going to be interesting what Pentair says about this mule.

Someone got confused on the assembly line.

I would return the pump to the retailer as defective and request a replacement.

The 1.5 HP motor will overheat and fail prematurely if run at high speed with the 3 HP impeller.

It should not be assumed the wet end is the correct 3HP.

The wet end also has a different size with 11.3" vs. 10.6 in.

Thank you, James and others, for your help on this!

In terms of measurements, the overall length of the assembly is exactly 26" (as it should be for the 3HP version) though it's worth noting that the overall length measurement is based on the electronics compartment on top - not the motor itself.

I talked to Pentair and they were not helpful at all - "you have to talk to the retailer you bought it from." I said I'd love to talk to someone who can actually confirm by some other observation which motor is actually in the pump, and he said there's no way for them to do that. (as an engineer, I call BS on that... but I wasn't getting anywhere with the guy). I also asked if they were the least bit concerned that there may be a grey market or counterfeit (?!) pump of theirs out on the market. "Talk to the retailer" was literally all the guy would respond with.

I ordered this pump from poolcleaningparts.com and I just got a reply from them - they are surprised and asked for some photos, and also said they'll get this swapped out for me... so it sounds like they're going to do the right thing at least.

Someone asked about other labels... I have a photo of the label on the box itself, though having trouble uploading it for some reason. The PN and SN match the label on the pump housing, so probably not much to be gleaned from that other photo.

Pentair Customer Non-Service handles this the way I thought they would.

Return the pump and move on.
