No reason to let the pump run overnight. It is best to not put the cya in the skimmer. It is acidic and does damage to the plastic of the skimmer. But up to you.

Do a bucket test for a leak. See pool school.

Do not run any chemicals through the pump, many bad reasons.

Put cya in sock, hang in pool not touching anything, squeeze often
