New Owner/Builder, Los Angeles

As you wish Julie... LOL. I couldn't wait to get back home from work today. The pictures were taken at 6pm local time, can't wait to see it in direct sunlight tomorrow.

How are the kids handling it??????? Are they ready to jump in???????

That is almost full! Will you have to get up in the middle of the night to turn off the water?

Kim

Kids are super excited! They would definitely jump in now if I let them.

I think it will be full before I sleep tonight. It started filling at noon with three hoses, so we are making great progress. Hopefully I can turn on the pump before I sleep and let it run through the night.

It looks fabulous. Great use of space and the trim tile on the steps really catches your eye! I gotta say, you made this look easy! And you didn't even have a PB. Congrats!!

Thanks Julie! I don't regret going owner builder, although the time going back and forth from work was crazy. Being able to be in complete control and making decisions on the fly made the headache worth it to me. Let's just say that I'm glad it's done!

I hear you. I'm so lucky that I started to work from home in May so it was obviously easy to oversee everything since I'm here. Even though we had a great PB who gave us an enjoyable experience, I would still recommend that ppl try to be home as much as possible when crews are there. We also had a dropcam aimed out the back window into the backyard so I could watch from my office on the other side of the house and my husband could watch from work. I'd recommend that too. It let me pick the perfect time to go out and ask questions or redirect something.

Dropcam! What a great idea. Wish I would have thought of that!

Here are a few pics of the finished product (except for the bbq and covering up the pool equipment, still working on that)....

Here is a close up of the water color after a few days of brushing and balancing the water. You can see the big difference in color from the shade to the sunlight. These were taken at 4pm local time.

And here is one pic showing the view from my spa...

My only hiccup right now is that the sheer descent is not working. Plumber is coming back to fix it any day now... luckily I still owe him a lot of $$!;)

Stunning! I didn't realize or had forgotten how high up your pool and deck are. It's such a gorgeous view of the trees - looking out across to them rather than up at them! I love it.

And of course, your water color is to die for. All of it is so elegant. And then there's the fun of the playhouse!!! I'm partial to playhouses! Any plans to tie in the purple somewhere???

Thanks for posting more pictures!
Suz.

Turned out beautiful! Can you post a pic of the water feature on when you get a chance? Where's your skimmer lid? Lately I've been giving a lot of thought to skimmer baskets/lids... something I should have done BEFORE we built our pool this summer. LOL.

My water feature isn't working yet. They plumbed it in reverse. Hopefully they will fix it in the next few days. Here is a pic of my skimmer cover and auto-fill cover. I had the decking company cut me custom ones so that they blend into the decking.

Thank you Suz! We still have to get curtains for the cabana. We are thinking about light blue curtains, so maybe I will paint the playhouse to match. I have a feeling that this backyard project will never end...
