New North Carolina pool build

Passed our final inspection today! Woo hoo. Pool is officially completed. Going to pool school in an hour to learn. We get 1 month service included and we will probably extend that at least until we get comfortable but looking forward to be able to control heat, water falls, bubblers, and lights! Now on to irrigation permit, travertine patio and finally grass!

That's great news! What's your water temp?

I was so happy that my PB didn't want/offer to maintain the pool at all after the fill (except for doing his hot-start). All you need is a recommended test kit AND TFP to maintain your pool. The sooner you do it yourself the quicker you will learn. In fact, having someone else maintain your pool makes the learning process harder.

Congratulations! Ours has not passed inspection. There appears to be a problem with the setback. Not sure how to resolve that. Sort of hard to move a pool! [emoji6]

My water temp is 77 today. We can not turn on heater until next Friday(apparently due to the pebble tec). You are probably accurate with the pool service and learning curve. Its kind of like what happens when you use GPS to drive somewhere or are a passenger. you don't quite learn how to get there until you do it yourself. We have heard nightmares of people ruining plaster, etc because they messed things up. My husband and I have never owned or built a pool before. We are both very hands on and handy in general so I'm sure we will take it over. Right now I have in my head we will keep the service for a year. That could change when they provide me with a quote!

I will tell you the truth.........using a pool service may do quite a bit more harm than you doing it yourself :( They will come once a week and dump in enough of whatever in hopes of it lasting until they come back the next week. The highs and lows will not be kind to your pretty new plaster.

We have a link for new plaster:

Pool School - Start-up New Plaster

Please note the 30 day no swim depends on the start up method. Ask your PB when you can swim and go by what he says.
