New Multi-Port doesn’t fit on to filter.

I’m a relatively new pool owner and still learning my way around.
Last year my multi-port valve cracked at where it screws on to the filter. I did a quick patch up to last for the last couple weeks it was open. I ordered a new one online. The same number but it’s white instead of black. I went to look at it this morning thinking about opening soon and saw that the “nut” is to shallow. There is a lip that won’t let it go further out and screw on to the filter. Are there any adaptors or do I just need to buy another one.

Not sure if this is it, but that part number applies to both Pentair and Jandy. The Jandy is Black with the deeper union nut, while the Pentair is white and has the shallower nut. Which filter do you have? Can you update your signature please?

Is your DE filter Pentair, Hayward or Jandy?

I think your MPV is for Pentair and your filter is another model.

I think that’s it. My filter is a Jandy.
I do not see any brand on either of the MPV’s.
I bought the new one (white) last year. I do remember looking for a black one but couldn’t find one. Had no idea about the colors representing different companies.
Forgive my ignorance. By updating my signature, do you mean the picture?
Thanks for the help everyone!
Mike

Great start on the signature. When you can, take a better look at all of ours. Pump, filter, method of chlorination, test kit, etc are also listed.
