Hello everyone,

I just got my dolphin Nautilus CC Plus delivered today, can not wait to get home and throw her in the pool, I have spent the last 3-4 days waiting for it to arrive by scouring the forums here and have really learned alot and enjoyed myself browsing the forums, I do have 2 questions that I have not ran into an answer on in regards to my new toy.

The first my 16' by 32' chlorine pool currently runs 5 hours per day with the new dolphin can i cut this down to 3 or 4 hours with out much difference or is that not recommended?

Second question, I will put the dolphin in at least every other day if not every day , should i turn off the main drain and run 100% skimmer since the robot will be taking the bottom cleaning duties? living in Florida i get alot of floating bugs and ickys.

Thanks in advance for the advise.

I'm with Manny, the robot doesn't have anything to do with the skimmer or main drain. Some main drains are plumbed so that if by chance the skimmer were clogged then the main drain would be providing the water for the pump. This way the pump is never starved for water. So unless you can't know if closing one or the other off would change much.

You can tweak the valves so that you get more pull on the skimmer and less on your main drain, which will increase surface cleaning.

Let the robot do its thing on its own....hopefully he's going to climb the walls too, right?? Brushing the walls is a great feature of robots and makes them worth every penny, IMO.

Shawn,

Welcome to TFP... A great place to find the answers to all our your "Eva Gabor" pool care questions... :shark:

Your main drain is not really doing anything to keep the bottom of your pool clean. You can turn it off if you wish, I doubt you will ever know the difference.

You will love your new robot.. :goodjob:

Not sure if yours comes with two strips of foam on the brushes, but mine did... When I got my Robot, I thought they were packing as they were as hard as cardboard. I came within a few seconds of ripping them off.. They are not packing and will soften as soon as they hit the water.

A heads-up, just in case..

Welcome to TFP...

Robots are so cool and clean very well. I turn my pool equipment off when using the robot...

Check your owners manual for how much to run the robot. Mine specifies not more than I think 8 hours a week.

It actually pops a message on the smartphone controlling it if it has been cleaning too long.

It's part of the Pool Cleaning Robot Association's collective bargaining agreement.
