It's still green, but noticeably more clear even than yesterday. I can make out the outline of the cover plate in the spa, and the second step by the ladder. I can see the pool light, and the overall color is much lighter. The chlorine is doing its thing

The three in the pool are aimed roughly parallel to the walls. The only one that moved was the one in the shallow end near the steps with the tile, and I aimed that one down. It seemed like it was the threading that moved, rather than they eyelet itself, so that one may just be more loose than the others. The one in the spa is pointed up, and also stuck tight.

When I can get in the water I'll fiddle with them some more, or maybe replace them. There are some other fixes that need doing (like the skimmer needs a door) but I'll get to that after the water is sorted.

Some eyelets/returns do have a cover that needs to be loosened to redirect the eye and tightened to hold it's position The one towards the stairs, keep it clearing the stairs

I lost an insane 12ppm FC today. It was at 19 when I left, and 7 now. But the color change is intense, especially in the spa and the shallow end.

Woot! Bump that FC up and keep at it! Great it finally "broke"!!!

Looks like more of a cloudy blue than a green today. Blew through another insane amount of FC - from about 24 this morning to 7.5. I know the CYA/SLAM chart has shock levels, but is there some upper amount of chlorine I should add in the morning? It seems like the day is just too much to maintain SLAM levels, even though the loss isn't as drastic at night.

CC was barely 0.5.

PH, since itllFC was under 10, is holding at a nice 7.2.

You really should not go much above SLAM level FC. The excess FC above the SLAM level is quickly consumed by the sun on the pool. Even though the FC level drops below SLAM level during the day, it is still killing algae as long as it is above the minimum.

Pool is very blue now, just cloudy. The usual stair pic is attached, as well as one of the spa and one of the deep end (theres a main drain down there.) FC went from 18.5 to 6 - didn't add any extra this morning based on the discussion yesterday. Gonna bump it to about 14 now and see how that holds overnight.

In addition to all the other things I've learned on here, I've learned about POP, and will abide

I'll be gone for a couple of days this weekend (to your neck of the, er, desert, actually) and will set it at SLAM level with a puck in the skimmer. The pump will run while I'm away. I may lose a little progress, but can at least resume proper SLAM on Sunday when I get back.

FC from about 13 -> 6.5 throughout the day. Not much change in color or clarity, but it's a sand filter and I'm patient

Going good. With your low CYA the FC loss will be higher. When the SLAM is over, be sure to raise your CYA to 50 ppm or so.

Pool is looking great now. Past me would have called it clear, but I know better now Main drain is still murky, but the shallow end looks awesome. Still burning chlorine pretty good (13.5 -> 4.5.)

I added a couple gallons of chlorine and threw two pucks in the skimmer, both for the chlorine and to raise the CYA a bit.

I also took some pics of my skimmer, since I need a weir door as soon as I can jump in the water to fix it. Having seen some other skimmer pics, I'm pretty sure the crumpled looking pipe isn't supposed to look like that. I tried to take a pic of something that could help identify what kind of skimmer I had, but the pool is slightly overfilled with the rain yesterday so I couldn't get low enough for a good shot without dunking my phone.

I'll be back on Sunday with fresh test results and to vac and brush my pool.

What an awesome difference! Yeah it is better but we all know it can be even better!!!

That skimmer does not look normal at all! I will let someone else comment on it as I have not seen anything like that before

I would suggest getting a cheap floater for when you want to use a puck or two. Putting them in the skimmer does a job on your basket and skimmer housing with the highly acidic nature of the pucks.

I use a floater for a couple pucks when we leave for a couple weeks - primarily for the acid to keep the TA in check. .

Just got back. Pool is looking real good - maybe another few days of SLAM and I should be set. Looks like I'll have to fix a drain cover when I get in the pool.

Pool is coming along, still a bit cloudy though. Gave the filter a good backwash. 19 gallons of chlorine down and counting - my war chest will need restocking before the weekend!
