OK, so it's been a year since I posted this thread and wanted to provide an update. I opted for a replacement liner instead of the $1500 compensation from Latham. The replacement included, shipping, water fill and all chemicals, so basically free to me except the aggravation. Well...I asked that they do the replacement in the fall so as not to disrupt our swimming season and they started it this week. The replacement liner is now installed and guess what......SAME EXACT ISSUE

The replacement liner has the exact same cosmetic defect in the exact same spot. I am so upset.

In the middle of working with the installer on next steps. My installer says they install 150 liners a year made by Latham and have never once ran into this issue before, let alone 2 times! Never thought replacing a liner would be so stressful.

That is really frustrating. What are your plans now? Do you think you can live with it?
Well, I'm going to have to live with it. Latham (the liner company) said they will not attempt to print that liner a 3rd time, so if I want a replacement (again), I would have to pick a different pattern. Evidently, they don't feel confident enough to try a 3rd time with that pattern. Unfortunately, we don't really like any of their other patterns. In lieu of a replacement liner, they offered me $2000 compensation (last year they offered $1500, but I chose a replacement rather than the $$). So yeah, the extra cash softens the blow a bit, but my preference would have been a liner free of cosmetic defects.

Is it the seams, the strip, or both ?

For the strip on the slope, they used entirely different rolls of material this time. There's no way it's the exact same print issue a year later IMO. It's probably the angle and depth that I'm always laughing about when a newb is trying way too hard to pick their perfect shade that they'll never see.

Mine does the exact same thing as yours with the angles, although it looks more shade-y and less defect-y.

The seams may be specific to that particular liner, and clearly it is what it is. I promise you that *nobody* will ever know or care. :)

WOW! Its stressful enough getting a new liner, but this?? What a cluster. So sorry for your aggravation. I understand your frustration, but life is definitely too short to lose sleep over this. I understand your point, trust me. But at the end of the day, you have a beautiful pool, that most would love to have, and enjoy. Just try to move on, and enjoy what you have.

I'm ok with the seams.....I get that it's printed on a white background and there is really no way to avoid that. That doesn't bother me. It's that 2-3' strip on the slope.....it's not consistent at all with the rest of the liner. If the strip was right at the point where the slope heads down you could say it was the depth casting a different shade. But this strip is halfway down the slope and it clearly a very different shade. That strip is definitely a cosmetic defect and Latham agrees with me. Hence the $2,000 cash back since they admittedly can't fix it with a new liner.

By the way, I don't see anything in your pool that even closely resembles that strip in mine. The only color variation I see in your pool is on the walls that slope down and I would totally expect that given it's a different angle of lighting.

And yes, I agree that no one else cares, but they do notice it. It's certainly not the end of the world....my grandkids will have just as much fun in the pool regardless of that strip ;)

Oh WOW, they offering $2k, even with the new defective liner? Just take it at this point.

Yes....that's what I am trying to do......move on. The $2000 compensation from Latham helps ;)

That's what I was pointing out, which is worse on yours IMO.

I'm sorry yours is why-ever it is. I know the struggle of seeing that sort of thing well. Every. Last. Time. I. Was. To. Look. Over. There.

Then again, with $2k to dry my tears with...
