Pool was built in '92. The SR Smith jump board and cantilever base are shot - board dangerous, base pitting with lots of rust. I'm going to hire a pool place to replace it all. No longer of the age where dealing with super rusted anchor bolts appeals - and perhaps having to drill new holes if the old bolts are useless. Since I converted to salt a couple of years ago, several places would only quote installing the "better" salt version of the board. One that gave an option charges $300 more for it.
I'm leaning toward going cheaper. It is mostly for someday resale value on the house (nothing looking wrecked). The board will get little use from us pretty old folks or the dog. Just the adult kids and grandkid on infrequent visits. So can't see much "salt water" getting on it routinely to promote rusting. In even half the time the old one lasted, we'll be in a home or one way or another gone.
$300 isn't all that much these days..so am I just being too cheap?
