New jandy/zodiac heater not working with Aqualink PDA

Besides the possible firmware issue. Did you follow the instructions on page 28 in the link provided by poolgate.

After you wired the heater both the heater and control panel need to be powered off and turned back on.

Adter both restart try pressing a button on the heater. It should display “ JANDY REMOTE ONLINE PUSH Menu...”

if it doesn’t or you already did this check the wiring for a loose connection of it’s the hardware/firmware incompatible and you’ll need to use the 2 wire method.

Do you know what firmware rev you have? It needs to be rev "N" or higher. Do you have 2 sets of RS485 connectors or just 1 (on your main panel)? If just 1, you cannot connect via RS485 and have to go with the 2 wire connection.

I believe its 2 sets of 4 wires on the main panel I've also checked all connections and everything seems to be fine I did shut everything off from the main breaker in the house and restarted everything but it still does not say jandy online
Edit I did just reset the PDA and its says 6700 rev c so I guess im not updated. So. My question is how do I upgrade and or how do I use the 2 wire method? In other words which 2 wires do I use to hook up to pool/com?
Funny is I do have 2 sets of 4 wires and it was hooked up that way before to the previous heater

I don't think you can upgrade it requires a physical board change. Check out the instructions for a 2 wire connection on that same PDF file. It isn't hard you are essentially having the iAqualink send the on/off command. Mine was originally set up that way and worked great.

Can you send a pic of the main panel? It should tell you on the iAqualink door what to connect to for the heater. If you have 2 RS485 connectors on the main board though I think you are on rev N.

The instruction on the front panel is old and worn out therefore unreadable im going to give jandy a call to see which two wires to use.its weird because the old heater just had the 4 aqualink wires connected to the red aqualink slot on the heater

It is possible that your RS485 cable is bad. What kind of heater was the old one? I do agree though to call Jandy. They may refuse to help you wiring it in though for liability issues so don't be surprised if they don't offer much help. The heater end of the connection can be really hard to get to I suggest removing the side and top panel as it makes it much easier and to ensure a solid connection.

Got it to work wind up using 2 wire method thanks for all your help
