New Intex sand filter backwash, rinse &, sight glass issue

I have a new Intex 12 in sand filter. When I backwash and rinse before I turn on the pump it is a tight flow of water not a full gush of the line like my old one. when I turn on the pump it's in high-pressure spray and not a solid flow. almost like you're putting your thumb over the end of a hose and letting just a little spray out with high pressure. The sight glass also is only about halfway filled with water.

I wonder if you could get a picture to show us what is going on. Did you chance the hoses or anything like that?
