New Intex pool user has questions

Hi all,

I'm posting because I have a few basic questions about how Intex pools go together.
I was hoping to find this info on the "Useful links for fellow Intex Pool Owners" thread, but all of the pictures no longer work.

I have a metal frame 15' x 48" pool coming and already have the Intex 12" sand filter and pump here. I also have their skimmer.

My question is how do their inlet and outlet connectors work with the liner? Are the holes molded into the liner with a sleeve or something? How difficult is it to swap different outlet / inlets in, such as larger ones?

I'm thinking of ordering their 1.25 to 1.5" adapters, and maybe the plunger valves, but I'm not sure what I want to go with yet.

I just put up a small 12 foot intex, and upgraded to the intex 1600 gph sand filter pump with the saltwater system. My pool had the 1.25 holes so I cut the larger holes around where the smaller ones were in order to use the larger hoses. I did buy the adapters and was going to go that route, but in reading I was worried that the strength of the pump would be compromised using the smaller holes. I don't know if it would, but really cutting in larger holes and using the larger return jet and inlet strainer has worked well. (I had a drip at first, but that was an easy fix....I made a thread on here before doing it...cutting larger returns)

To install larger fittings, you just cut out the old one with an Xacto knife to the size needed. The new fittings have a collar that screws down onto the liner on both sides with a rubber washer to seal it off.

Mine had a hole with a black tube sticking out on the outside of pool and the return jet and intake strainer just slid in that hole (kind of hard to explain). I cut around that black tube thing to the size I needed for the new return jet and intake.

Thank you for responding.

So the pool just comes with holes? I assumed it had connectors molded into it.

I'm decent with an xacto, I think.
Some do, some don't. It doesn't really matter either way. When you're done, it'll just have a hole and that's all the new fittings need.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read my questions and respond.

I have another one, that I'm hoping someone will be able to help with.

Where can I get a 1.5" outlet? The better 1.5" return came with the sand filter setup but I don't have an outlet and am having trouble finding them online. Probably because I'm just not looking for the right thing.

This is what you need, but wow... the prices on these, when you can find them, are crazy high!

I’ll keep searching. I think I paid $10 for mine!

Thank you both for responding.

I have one ordered, so I think I've got everything now.

I'll be only using one connection, which will be connected to an Intex skimmer for now.

We'll see how it goes.

Here’s a return... you need basically same thing for inlet, but with a screen that fits over it like in my previous post.

I had so many Intex pumps, hoses, etc, that I started collecting hose pieces in a box. I finally threw them out last year. I guess I should have sold them considering the prices. Wow.
